About Us
The Islamic Society of Northern Finland (PSIY) was officially registered in 2000, but our efforts to serve the Muslim community began in the early 1990s. Our work is guided by the call of Allah (SWT): "And that you may become a congregation that calls people to goodness, guides them to the right way of life, and prevents them from evil." [Surah Aal-e-Imran 3:104]
Qur'an Learning

Supporting Those in NeedWe actively collect and distribute charity donations to assist the less fortunate, ensuring that those in need receive essential support and relief. Help those in need by donating here.
Community Activities
Engaging & Inspiring EventsWe organize a variety of events and programs to bring the community together, including Qur'an recitation sessions, storytelling evenings, kids’ club, and a teenage girls’ club. These initiatives help nurture faith, learning, and friendship in a welcoming environment.
Helping the Poor
Feeding The HungryAs Muslims, it is our duty to care for the poor and needy in our community. We strive to provide food and assistance to those facing hardship, embodying the values of compassion and generosity.
Mission Statement
Our mission is to please Allah (SWT) by promoting Islam, fostering the growth of the Muslim community, and contributing positively to society. We are committed to making decisions based on the Qur’an, the Sunnah (teachings of the Prophet ﷺ), and Islamic Sharia.
Our journey:
- 1992: Established the Oulu branch of the Islamic Society of Finland.
- 1993: Secured a Muslim cemetery in Oulu and hosted Finland’s first Islamic Conference.
- 1994: Organized the Second Islamic Conference in Finland, initiating efforts for a unified Islamic umbrella organization.
- 1996: Successfully established the Federation of Islamic Organisations in Finland.
- 1998: Registered as Oulu Islamilainen Yhdistys.
- 2000: Registered under our current name, Pohjois Suomen Islamilainen Yhdyskunta (PSIY).
- 2012: With the support of Pohjoismaiden Säätiö, acquired our premises at Linnankatu 23-25, 90100 Oulu.

Our Islamic center takes pride in its heritage of diversity, open-mindedness, civic engagement and community building. Based in Oulu, Northern Ostrobothnia, Finland, PSIY continues to serve the community through religious, educational, and social initiatives while upholding the values of Islamic faith and unity.
